It plays an instrumental part in maintaining the village, with [[Rose]] claiming that the village would be gone with out the Power of Song. It is presumably passed on to each Mayor by singing as song, and this process kills the previous host. Only one transfer has ever been seen, from Rose to [[Miles]], and the transfer was reversed by the [[Creator]].
