In Shadow Lives On, Pouches is first seen when Wilfre walks away from the Galactic Jungle district. He asks Wilfre to go on an adventure, saying that since Cindi went on a adventure a few years ago, he should be able to go too. Wilfre begins to walk away, but soon comes back and tells Pouches that he'd put in a good word with Mari.

Wilfre explains that those were different times, and that he's too young to go adventuring. Eventually, he is persuaded by Kyren to swim to the side of the Bane of Kings and board the ship from the gun ports. They hide on the ship until they hear the group above talking about their plan for when they arrive at Wilfre's Wasteland. Kyren hears them say that they don't have enough people to cover every quarter of the wasteland, so she pops out from below deck with Pouches, formally joining the group on their adventure.
