The Raposa language, redundantly named Raposa, is the sole native language of the Raposa species. While a wide variety of regional dialects exist, all fall within the same language classification.
Raposa are primarily a monolingual species. The main global language, redundantly named ''Raposa'', constitutes as the primary form of communication for species and exists in written, verbal, and gestural, forms.
There exists a wide variety of locational dialects within the Raposa language. So, while two speakers of differing location may speak the same language, the linguistic distance of their two dialects may hinder clear understanding.
Written Raposa utilizes a pseudo-alphabetical system. The language consists of 24 unique symbols, representing 9 vowels and 22 consonant sounds. Of the 24 letters in Raposa, 7 of which possess a second, alternate, form—designated by a single horizontal strike through the center of the letter—that represents hard vowel sounds, or voiced consonants (increasing the overall letter count to 31).
Writen Raposa exists as a supplement to spoken Raposa, and often represents the writer's pronunciation or dialect. As written letters are always pronounced, there are as many valid spelling variations for the same word as there are different ways to pronounce it. As it is impossible to create a single "official" dictionary for the Raposa language that details correct spelling, many regional dictionaries exist instead.
