During his work as a chimneysweeper, Soot was mostly stationed to clean out the deeper mines and factory levels of Lavasteam, leading him to encounter many Chimneysweep Bakis. Unsure if they were there as forced labourers, or if they simply enjoyed doing it, Soot ended up on good terms with them regardless. He would often share his lunch with the Bakis and they would keep each other company during their time sweeping.
