The Power of Song is a power held by the Mayor of Watersong in Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter. It plays an instrumental part in maintaining the village, with Rose claiming that the village would be gone with out the Power of Song. It is presumably passed on to each Mayor by singing as song, and this process kills the previous host. Only one transfer has ever been seen, from Rose to Miles, and the transfer was reversed by the Creator.
Book Story
Before the events of Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter, Rose obtained the Power of Song and became Mayor of Watersong. Some time later, Rose was performing an opera and was challenged by Salem, who made her swear on a Promise Conch; the winner of a signing competition will gain the title of "Greatest Opera Singer in the World" while the loser would lose their voice for all eternity. Rose agreed to these terms, believing that the Power of Song would help her prevail. However, Salem cheated and Rose lost the competition, losing her voice and by extension, losing the Power of Song.
Miles, Rose's son, began searching for the Promise Conch, eventually gaining help from Mari, Jowee, and the Hero. Once the Conch was recovered, the Creator reversed the promise, restoring the Power of Song to Rose. However, Rose felt too much guilt to continue being Mayor, so she decided to transfer the Power of Song to Miles that night. Rose and Butler corner Miles in Rose's Mansion that night, and she sings Light of my Life to transfer the Power of Song to Miles. However, the Creator intervenes in the process and tells Rose that there is still much needed of her.
Trivia Trivia
* The Power of Song could be seen as Watersong's counterpart to the Book of Life, with each being passed down through the mayors and are tied directly to the village's survival.
* As Rose's status is unknown during the events of Drawn to Life: Two Realms, it is unknown if Miles holds the Power of Song in that game.
