Status Alive

Veila (pronounced Vay-luh) is a 19-year-old female Genesis Raposa of Capital.

As a Genesis Raposa—the first generation of Raposa, drawn to life by the Creator—Veila was created bearing a unique gift and anointed in helping her species prosper. A natural expert of magic, Veila became recognized as the first Mage. Her eventual creation of the Warp Gates and research into levitation and healing spells made it possible for her village to expand at a rate otherwise impossible and greatly improved the quality of life of her fellow villagers. Despite being renowned, past and present, as the single best magician of all time, Veila considered herself a mere stepping stone to her peers' successes, convinced she had yet to achieve her ordained purpose to her full potential. Determined to refine her skills further to honor the reason for her creation, Veila worked tirelessly for years until her abrupt disappearance.

TowerIcon.png Appearance

Veila was a young-adult female Raposa of slightly below average height and build. She stood at 5ft 9in including ear height, and 5ft 3in without.

Veila had red-brown eyes, orange fur, and long dark-brown hair with unkempt bangs. She often styled her hair in a messy low ponytail which she kept over her right shoulder. When not working or attending village events, she would wear her hair down.

Veila's go-to outfit consisted of a red button-up long sleeve shirt with a white collar and cuffs, a white undershirt with an angular cut, rolled-up dark-grey cuffed slacks, and brown boots.

As a Shadow construct within the Codex Perditus, Veila appeared as a Shadow Walker with Raposa ears. As such, her physical form was entirely composed of black Shadow goo which constantly emanated pieces of Shadow. Overall, she stood upright, retaining anthropomorphic qualities.

The only defining features of her form were two solid white eyes, a wide, partially smiling, mouth, and claw-like hands.

Veila has red-brown eyes, orange fur, and long dark-brown hair with lifted bangs. Unlike her past life, she prefers to wear her down, such that it rests on her shoulders, and styles it with loose.

Her go-to outfit consists of a red over-sized sweater, dark-gray palazzo pants, and open-toed flats. During cold weather, she may wear a beige scarf.

Creation

Veila is a Genesis Raposa created (age 13) alongside the rest of her kind on the dawn of the fourth year. As a Genesis Raposa, Veila was created for the purpose of furthering her species and was bestowed with a unique gift to aid her. Within the first week of creation, most of Veila's peers had discovered their purpose and abilities. Yet Veila, among the few who had yet to determine their gifts, worked as a laborer, assisting in the construction of what would soon become Capital Village.

As seasons passed, the number of Raposa who had yet to discover their ordained purpose diminished until only Veila and her closest friend, Kodir, remained without. Though her village was kind, Veila thought herself inadequate compared to those around her with abilities she yet lacked.

Unwilling to become a burden to her village, she embraced a lifestyle of self-sufficiency, living alongside her best friend. However, a year later, Kodir discovered their purpose to Veila's greatest delight and melancholy. Though she was ecstatic for her best friend, the heavy burden of purposelessness now laid solely upon her shoulders.

Warp Gates

Fearful of failing her creation mandate and full of self-doubt, Veila adopted meditation to cope. This habit led to a surprising outcome for the young Raposa when she accidentally conjured a ball of light whilst meditating one night. Having discovered magic, Veila finally found her purpose: to master the art and mentor her village.

Veila spent the remainder of her free time studying the art. She learned quickly: Having been created to become an expert magician, understanding came naturally to Veila. After a short year, Veila—now 17—was a master and began tutoring her proud village. Determined to find new ways of assisting her species, she worked tirelessly inventing new spells and magic-powered devices.

A prominent example, and one leading to her notoriety, were the Warp Gates. Warp Gates, the evolution of her first basic levitation spell, allowed Raposa to traverse long distances instantly between other linked Gates. Treks that would take teams of Raposa days to cross now could be complete in mere seconds without need for bulky supplies. Naturally, this enabled her village to expand far beyond its original borders.

In her lifetime, Veila created four gates within Capital Village, each leading to newly discovered region: The Snow Gate, Forest Gate, Beach Gate, and the City Gate (so named as it would later become the main area of expansion for her village). Though the Gates had limitations (such that they could not transport cargo en mass), they were a boon to the growing village and would continue to see heavy usage centuries into the future.

The Book of Life

With her abilities as a magician realized, Veila was entrusted by the village leader with the Book of Life*. This book, which was found by the village leader shortly after her creation, contained boundless information pertaining to their world and basic doctrine for the Raposa, but otherwise served no known use. Accepting the gift, Veila took the Book in for study, understanding it as a creation artifact.

It wasn't long until Veila noted the reality altering properties of the Book of Life. By manipulating the magic of the pages in the Book, Veila was able to modify aspects of the respective creations contained within. With this new found use, Veila was further able to assist her village by manipulating the world—particularly atmospheric conditions—through the Book: During dry seasons, Veila learned to summon rain by manipulating the page for clouds, or mildly raise or lower the temperature and tides by manipulating the Sun and Moon pages.

Beginning to understand the importance of the Book of Life, the village leader instructed everyone to begin construction of Creation Hall based schematics found within new pages of the Book. This building, once complete, became the sanctuary of the Book of Life and a holy spot of worship for the Raposa settlement. Over time, more pages began to fill the Book, and the Raposa followed the new doctrine understanding it the holy word of the Creator.

As the village expanded with new landmarks, Veila and her peers became perplexed by the schematics of a final creation: a wood and iron pedestal the Raposa had constructed at the center of their village. Though the schematics portrayed the box alight with flame, all attempts to kindle a fire within it failed as powerful gusts of wind would soon-after extinguish all efforts. With the village exhausted of ideas, Veila trepidatiously tore the page for fire from the Book of Life and rested it within the pedestal. To the astonishment of the village, the page suddenly ignited, burning a brilliant white flame before the crowd.

Marzell Heinnen

Veila considers Marzell to be her closest friend. Despite the strenuous and bitter start of their relationship, the two have grown very close over time.

Veila "met" Marzell when he destroyed the artifact her soul was trapped within. Following this, he inadvertently absorbed her soul and gained the ability to speak to her in his mind space. Though happy to finally have been freed and consciousness restored, Veila became aware of the fact she was an intruder in Marzell's body and had caused him a great deal of suffering as a Shadow Construct. Anguished by this, Veila made her presence known to Marzell, who was enraged upon learning the truth, wishing she had never been created.

As tensions cooled in time, Marzell began to understand that Veila had not meant any harm to him and had little say in their current situation. Eventually, he apologized for his remarks. Despite this, Veila couldn't yet forgive herself, but was comforted by his reprieve.

When Marzell began training with the Mages following his capture, Veila provided him magic instruction. Slowly, this led to his mastery of Shadow. By this time, the two had grown close as friends and Veila opened up more about her past.

Trivia

  • Veila created the Mecha Baki as a means of protecting village crops from pests, however they failed to scare away living Baki as intended. After Veila's disappearance, Mecha Baki slowly spread from Gearworks to Star Forest, becoming a threat of their own and evading extermination attempts.
    • Following The Fall, the few Mecha Baki that remained in the Forest Gate died off once magic levels dropped world-wide.
  • Veila lacks a last name.
