Not to be confused with Blank Slates.
Blank Slates Warriors is a hack and slash game for the Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, and macOS. It combines the world of Blank Slates with the action of Koei Tecmo's Dynasty Warriors series and was developed by C's Entertainment, Omega Force, and Team Ninja.
Gameplay[edit]
As a part of Koei Tecmo's larger Warriors franchise, Blank Slates Warriors is a hack-and-slash action game in which the player fights in battlefields populated with hundreds of enemies. The player can execute combos to cut through enemies while working toward completing a series of stage objectives. Attacking enemies builds a special gauge that can unleash powerful Warrior Specials that can clear a large group of enemies at once.
The player controls various characters throughout the game, called "Warriors," beginning with Repair Guy before unlocking Warriors such as the Four Guardians, Willham, and Crawler's LARPing Group through Adventure Mode. Most of the hordes of enemies are based on weaker enemies, like Droogles, and often appear alongside greater foes such as Dinofrog, encouraging players to think tactically. Warriors also fight alongside regular soldiers and other playable characters, and the game will alert if an ally requires assistance. The game also features multiple locations throughout The Void that function as battlefields.
Players are given Missions during each mission, requiring the capturing of forts to gain territory and defeating Captains, stronger and high priority targets. Players are also given Sub-Missions, tasking the player with tasks like rescuing a stray NPC, stopping a messenger from requesting back up, or stop enemies from boosting enemy morale. These do not need to be completed, but will help swing the tide of battle in the player's favor if they are completed. Players are allowed on most maps to bring in multiple Warriors into battle, allowing them to freely switch between them during battle to address certain tasks.
Warriors fight using a set of weapons that can be upgraded, with each rank of weapon featuring different move sets. An example is Jinxy's D-rank weapon — the Vine Whip, which can be upgraded all the way to his S-rank weapon - the Radiant Spear. New Weapons and classes can be unlocked through either story progression or through Adventure Mode. Every weapon also has the chance of having passive skills attached to them including damage boosts to Strong attacks, increased Material rarity, stat manipulation, and bonus damage during Warrior Specials. Each character also has a skill tree which may unlock some of these passive skills.
Story[edit]
The plot of Blank Slates Warriors loosely follows the events of Blank Slates, Blank Slates 2, and Blank Slates 3, with some battles being taken from Salem Rose Pt. 1 and Salem Rose Pt. 2.
Book One[edit]
The game begins with Willham, Mayo, and the Four Guardians fighting Shadow Mari's invading Shadow and Ink army, although they fail to prevent her from populating The Void.
Repair Guy wakes up with Fox and joins forces with the cut enemies of the Wii Village to rescue Jinxy and fight off Willham, who is now attempting to delete the new residents of the void. Meanwhile, Fiora, Lambert, and Nolan join forces with the cut enemies of The Next Chapter Village to fight off the invading armies of Rocket Vulture and Rata, Tat & Tat. The two groups eventually join together to stop the forces of Crawler, but during the battle, Willham erases most of both armies.
Meanwhile, in the Developer's Grove, the Droogle Leader stages a coup against Joe, and sends him and his army to the void. In the void, the two armies attempt to join forces, but disagreements keep them from fully merging, with a battle between Jinxy and Beta King splitting the army in two. However, they reluctantly fight against Dinofrog when he attempts to keep the army from reaching Shadow Mari.
Eventually, the group meets Shadow Mari and Drakon at the Shadow Hole, and the two armies fight for control of the void. During the fight, Jinxy falls into the hole and faces off against the Droogles Developer's Grove. In the void, Mayo eventually buckles under the pressure of her secret and reveals that she was the mastermind behind Shadow Mari's plans. This leads to a three-way battle between Drakon's army, Mayo and her sympathizers, and the forces of good, now with Shadow Mari on their side. The forces of good win the battle, the Shadow Hole is sealed, and both Mayo and Drakon are killed.
Book Two[edit]
However, just as everyone begins to relax, Salem Rose breaks into the void and fights the Guardians. He is defeated by the screeners, but he is able to get away. Right as he escapes, the Tree King starts his campaign to control the void, and Jinxy joins forces with Crawler to fight one of his generals - Robot. They defeat Robot, causing him to explode, but the explosion sets the Jungle Creature free from the Baki Temple.
Meanwhile, the Tree King's other general, Squid, attacks the Drawn to Life Village, so he is fought off by Fox and the surviving Droogles. The Jungle Creature makes its way to The Next Chapter Village, where the New Guardians, now including Lambert, are waiting to attack. They manage to defeat the Jungle Creature, but it splits into four pieces, one of which infects Alana's pet, Sandal. During the fight against the corrupted Sandal, two of the Tree King's defecting generals, Gingerfre and the Red Dragon, try to escape from the valiant Droogle Killer, who is attempting to stop them from getting to the Two Realms Plains.
In the Two Realms Plains, a group of heroic toys, including Sorcerer, Apprentice, SuperRapo, and Violet, fight off a fragment of the Jungle Creature, the Shadow Squid, who is attempting to reopen the Shadow Hole. Back in the Wii Village, the third fragment of the Jungle Creature bonds with the Tree King and begins to wreak havoc, but is stopped by the combined forces of the heroes of the void.
