We’re alive! We’re back and we’re alive! I haven’t been able to do this in ages!!

–Skate

Skate, formerly known as Violet and Hose, is a Screener, Human, and formerly Raposa created and adapted by GuyThatExists that appears in the short stories Blank Slates, Blank Slates 2, and Blank Slates 3 as a major character, and in Salem Rose Pt. 1 as a minor character.

Originally a piece of Monk, Skate was created to help with the development of games. Eventually, she transferred into a Raposa body, becoming Hose and joining the Four Guardians. As Hose, he fought against both Shadow Mari and Drakon. Later, he was killed by Salem Rose during his attack on The Void, and was revived as Violet by possessing the body of an unknown Raposa. They would then go on to fight against the Tree King and the Jungle Creature. They would also join the fight against Tombstone, though after being forced out of Violet's body by Ninja, they would become Skate once more. As Skate, she continued to fight against Tombstone, but was eventually sent into canon by Temte Mapleleaf.

TowerIcon.png Appearance[edit]

Hose has yellow fur carries a hose in his arms. He wears a red fireman's helmet a standard turnout gear.

Violet has grey fur with a patch of purple hair on her head. She wears a green dress reminiscent of Heather's Raposa design.

Skate, as a Human, does not have fur, but does have long blonde hair. She wears a teal sports bra and blue shorts. She also has a set of red roller blades and matching knee tape and elbow pads.

Book Icon.png Story[edit]

Before Blank Slates[edit]

Skate was originally one of four pieces of Monk, a screener who split themself up to make development easier on them. As the development of Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter and Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter (Wii) neared completion, Skate, along with the other pieces of Monk, opted to hide their human bodies in Warrior's Castle, taking the bodies of four Raposa instead. Skate became Hose after inhabiting Fire Bill's body, and when The Void was shut down, Hose feel into a deep sleep. Eventually, The Void was restarted for Drawn to Life: Two Realms development, and Hose awoke with the other screeners. Now calling the four piece of Monk the Four Guardians, they began helping Willham, Mayo, and Joseph Tringali with development decisions.

Blank Slates[edit]

Shadow Mari's Attack[edit]

During the development cycle for Drawn to Life: Two Realms, Joe called the Guardians to the Discussion Grounds to pick a character to revive for the upcoming game. Hose gave the suggestion to create a second list of characters, only containing the ones with personality. Eventually, the group learns about Mildew and decides to send him up to the game, angering Shadow Mari. She attacks the group and threatens to bring life to the void if they didn't bring Mildew back down. Because the decision was irreversible, Shadow Mari ends up attacking the void, killing Willham and covering Ore in Shadow in the process.

After Shadow Mari's attack subsides, Hose, along with Flash and Paint, take Ore to the color vat in Lavasteam and revert him to his Raposa form. They return to the Discussion Grounds and find Joe, Franco, and Mildew. After looking around at the landscape, the devs ask about the Shadow Hole and ask how it came to be. After learning about Shadow Mari, Joe asks why she was in the void without the dev's knowing. Flash comments that only one other person they know could create life - Mayo.

Fighting Dinofrog[edit]

Shortly after, Drakon and Dinofrog attack the Discussion Grounds. Drakon kidnaps Joe, Franco, and Mildew, leaving the Guardians to fight Dinofrog. During their fight, the Discussion Grounds are destroyed, and the Guardians are in a stalemate with Dinofrog. Eventually, Hose sees Alana appear and asks her to summon the Droogle Killer to help defeat Dinofrog. Dinofrog is eventually defeated by Willham, albeit a tree landed where Dinofrog was shortly after being deleted. Willham, Rocko, and Crawler continue on their journey to the Shadow Hole, and Mayo asks the Guardians if they want a ride. Hose tries to ignore her, suspicious of her involvement with Shadow Mari, but reluctantly agrees to a ride to the Shadow Hole.

Fight at the Shadow Hole[edit]

When they arrive, Shadow Mari summons an army of Shadow and Ink creatures from the hole, forcing Hose to fight the horde of enemies, alongside the other three Guardians, Rocko, Crawler, Fiora, Nolan. After Drakon and the Droogle Killer jump into the Hole, Shadow Mari calls off her army, and Mayo urges Shadow Mari to kill Willham, which she does. This causes Hose, along with the rest of the void, to chastise Mayo's alliances and morality. Eventually, Mayo breaks down and begins to yell at the Guardians for seemingly hating her. After her outburst, she collapses to the ground and begins to cry.

As Mayo cries on the ground, Hose, Flash, and Alana help Franco to his feet after failing to ascend back into the Developer's Grove. Hose, with Flash's permission, asks Franco to let them keep living in the void. He says that he'd pass the request onto Joe. After their conversation, they join Paint and Ore, who were keeping other beings away from Mayo.

Just then, Joe makes two announcements into the void. He grants Hose's request, and then says that he has to delete Mayo from the void due to her actions. Mayo begins to disappear, begging for help. After Mayo is completely deleted, Hose joins the rest of the beings of the void as they wish Alana, now known as Aly, luck in the next game. He is also part of the group that laughs when Fiora names Sandal, her new pet.

Salem Rose Pt. 1[edit]

Some time later, Miles sneaks into The Void and is met by Hose, Flash, Rocko, Jinxy, and Willham. Hose makes fun of him for being groggy after stabbing himself with the Droogle Leader's Sword. Flash temporarily blinds him, and he stays with Jinxy as Miles, Rocko, Flash, and Willham go to the Color Vat in the The Next Chapter Village.

Hose is later seen when Salem Rose, a corrupted version of Miles, comes to The Void. When Salem Rose jumps into the Color Vat and absorbs its power, Hose, along with the other Guardians, surround the vat, preparing to fight Salem Rose. Suddenly, the color erupts from the vat, knocking the Guardians down and covering them. He, along with the rest of the Guardians, is killed in this attack.

Blank Slates 2[edit]

Hiding as Violet[edit]

After being killed, a cloud of blue smoke was released from Hose's body, and it shot off towards the Two Realms Plains, possessing the body of an unknown Raposa and waking up. She is soon found by SuperRapo, Apprentice, and Sorcerer, and the toys quickly become her friends. They soon find Hans, Zak, and Mac entering the plains, searching for Hose. Violet decides to not give herself up, and leads the group on a futile quest to find Hose.

Later on, they watch as Gingerfre and Red Dragon land in the plains, and Violet attacks them with a wave of purple energy, causing them to crash to the ground. Violet and Sorcerer interrogate them, and Gingerfre explains the Tree King's plans. Realizing that she would have to go join the rest of the Guardians to fight the Tree King, Violet flies off to the Color Vat.

Fighting the Jungle Creature[edit]

She arrives at the Vat with Hoopz, Fox, Nolan, and Rocko, and she joins in on a fight with the Tree King, Squid, and the Jungle Creature which was already in progress. The Guardians easily defeat Squid, and Lambert picks up Mizu's Trident, gaining water-based powers. Violet promotes him to a Guardian, and the five of them defeat the Tree King and the Jungle Creature. However, Mill thinks that the two bosses haven't been defeated, so they go back to the Two Realms Plains to find a piece of the Jungle Creature.

Fighting the Jungle Creature's Pieces[edit]

When they arrive at the Plains, they watch as Shadow and Ink creatures begin to spawn. The fragment of the Jungle Creature eventually absorbs most of them, forming the Shadow Squid and reopening the Shadow Hole. During the battle, Lambert loses the trident inside the Shadow Squid, and Violet comes to ask why he isn't helping them fight. Lambert explains that he has a plan, and asks Violet to get to max speed and start shooting through the Shadow Squid. She agrees and begins to pierce the Squid, creating holes faster than the squid could heal them. Lambert then summons the trident back to him, causing the Shadow Squid to pop, freeing the Shadow and Ink creatures and closing the Shadow Hole.

The group then flies off to fight the new Tree King in the Wii Village, and Violet tries to use the same strategy, but it fails. Violet keeps attacking the Tree King until he's eventually defeated by Willham, Lambert, and Mill. Violet then works with the rest of the Guardians, the screeners, and various other characters to help clear the battlefield of injured and deceased characters. One week later, Violet goes to check up on the Two Realms Plains after the attack.

Blank Slates 3[edit]

Tombstone's Emergence[edit]

Two years later, Violet was left in the Guardians' HQ with the Droogle Leader, who had reappeared in The Void. The Droogle Leader began asking about the events in The Void while he was gone, annoying Violet and causing them to snap. After they apologized, they explained the Tree King's campaign and the Shadow Village to him. During their conversation, Tombstone attacks the Drawn to Life Village, prompting the two of them to travel to said village and contact the other Guardians and screeners to help fight it.

Violet and the Droogle Leader arrive at the same time as the LARPing Group, dealing a massive blow to Tombstone and knocking it out. She then calls the other Guardians, currently in a meeting in the Developer's Grove, telling them to come back The Void as soon as possible. Standing on the outskirts of the Village, Lambert asks them where the other Guardians were, and Violet guesses that they didn't get the Droogle Leader's message. Shadow Mari and Red Dragon appear behind them, and Violet asks where Gingerfre was, letting Red Dragon point out his Shadow army on the horizon.

Shortly after the other Guardians return to The Void, bringing Aly with them, Gingerfre's army arrives and starts attacking Tombstone, inadvertently revitalizing it and allowing it to take over the Drawn to Life Village, surrounding it in a Shadow bubble. Violet, alongside the rest of the fighters, then travel to the Two Realms Plains, where they hold a meeting telling the residents of The Void to ascend into the Grove until Tombstone is defeated.

Fighting in the Shadow Village[edit]

Violet is not mentioned again until the fight at the Shadow Village, where they and Hoopz are instructed to attack one of Tombstone's eyes while Willham attacks the other. They start fighting, attempting to blind Tombstone until Lambert joins the fight, directly attacking Tombstone's eye. After knocking Tombstone down once more, Violet and Hoopz fly to the outskirts of the village, helping Gingerfre and Jinxy clean up Tombstone's attacks.

However, thanks to the Five Aldarks, Tombstone is revitalized again, and Depression manages to capture Violet, Hoopz, Jinxy, and Gingerfre inside its bubble. As Depression attempts to submerge them in Tombstone's Shadow, the four of them blast the Shadow being with their attacks, vaporizing it. However, the bubble doesn't pop, bouncing the energy around inside the bubble until it explodes, shooting a shockwave throughout The Void, knocking out all the electronic systems and knocking Mill and Sparky out of their bodies, giving Tombstone the chance to absorb Mill. Tombstone is still able to take over the village despite their attack, encasing it in another Shadow bubble.

Exploring in the Shadow Bubbles[edit]

Back at the HQ, Violet sits with some of the fighters, where Shadow Mari and Willham lead a conversation about who's powers Tombstone had taken, the fighters who were missing, and the origins of Monk and the Four Guardians. Violet speaks up during this discussion, piecing together their own origins. When Heathers and Alme arrive at HQ, Violet helps Shadow Mari but on the God Ray Earring and asks why they wanted to know about Mayo. When Pot and Sorcerer arrive with the LARPing Group, Willham shoos everyone out of the crowded building, electing to speak to everyone outside.

Violet joins him, Shadow Mari, and Hoopz on the rooftop as he tells the remaining Void residents that the villages were still in tact underneath the Shadow bubble. Violet, Hoopz, and Gingerfre all choose to go into the Shadow Village, and they take off. When they arrive, Hoopz tests the bubble by sticking his arm in it, proving it to be safe to enter. Gingerfre leads the two of them inside, and they make their way to the central plaza, where Tombstone had erupted from, where they find Lambert's and Red Dragon's bodies underneath a pile of Shadow. The three of them immediatley jump into action, pulling their bodies out and attempting to revive them, but cannot. As Gingerfre gives up, the two Guardians walk over to him and offer their sympathies, but are cut off by the Tombstone-controlled Depression, who steals Mizu's Trident for itself. However, before they can fight back, Violet and Hoopz fall to the ground, their smoke forcibly ejected from their bodies and rocketed into their original bodies in the Drawn to Life Village thanks to Ninja.

In the Drawn to Life Village, Skate is ecstatic to be back in her first body, her memories of the events in the Shadow Village not setting in yet. However, before they can leave, Goldie and an infected Droogle army attacks them, looking to take Warrior's body for themselves, as Mill's smoke was still a part of Tombstone. Skate helps fight them alongside Ninja, Tank, Heathers, Alme, and Jinxy, and the group is soon joined by the dimension traveling Temte Mapleleaf and Q-Heather. They are able to dispatch the Droogles and take Warrior's body back to the HQ, where they wait to regroup with everyone.

Learning to be Monk[edit]

After arriving at the HQ, Skate and Tank are able to reconnect with Gingerfre, who now had Mizu's Trident. However, before the group of fighters can make any plans on what to do next, they notice the revived Tree King approaching from the Wii Village, with the LARPing Group, Cecil's Militia, the surviving Droogle army, and the surviving Shadow army behind him. They step outside to fight him, and their combined forces are able to kill him, knocking his body into and destroying a wall of HQ. After the fight, the group from the Wii Village tells them that the Tree King wasn't planning on fighting them, and Skate asks why they went to the Baki Temple at all, thinking that the plan was to just be fit with God Ray Armor. However, before the group can argue any more, the Two Realms Plains are encased by a Shadow bubble, indicating another victory for Tombstone.

When Willham and Shadow Mari return from the fight at the Two Realms Plains and organize a plan for the final fight against Tombstone, they call the Guardians inside to explain their new powers, though he is upset to see that his Compass Array was destroyed by the Tree King's body. He asks where Warrior's body was, and Skate points it out to him - underneath her desk. As Willham explains that they need to be able to channel Monk's abilities, Skate is the first to master the skill, concentrating her smoke to her hands and able to turn her desk into a pedestal from the Discussion Grounds. When Ninja turns herself into smoke, much like Willham or Mayo, Skate asks how to do that.

Final Fight Against Tombstone[edit]

When Tombstone summons Drakon and Red Dragon from the Shadow bubbles to attack the two remaining villages, Skate decides to attack Red Dragon, following behind Gingerfre, Fiora, Stocking, and Gargoyle. During the fight, she realizes that the only way to stop Tombstone was to change its body, so it uses its abilities to transform Red Dragon's wings and limbs into slimes. She is about to transform her head into slime when Gingerfre blasts her with a beam of Shadow, allowing Fiora to blast Red Dragon with God Rays, neutralizing Tombstone's influence. Gingerfre requests a moment with her body, so Skate reverts her changes. At Gingerfre's request, she turns Red Dragon into a scepter for Gingerfre to use as a weapon.

The group returns to the outskirts of the Two Realms Plains, where a massive Tombstone was attacking. Eventually, it slams two buildings into the ground, which are stopped by the Tree King and Willham, though part of a building lands in the center of the battlefield. Combining their powers, Skate, Tank, and Ninja encase the building in a cloud of smoke, turning it into a knight to fight Tombstone. They continue fighting Tombstone, but hide in the Guardians HQ as Temte is forced to eject the majority of fighters into canon. As Temte transforms into the Master of the Abyss to fight Tombstone, Skate desperately want to help fight, wanting to turn back into Monk to help, but without Warrior's piece of Monk, they were unable to. Before they can think of any more plans, however, the Master ejects the Guardians and Shadow Mari into canon.

Quote Icon.png Quotes[edit]

How about this then? We take all of those guys out of the running as we see em, and send everyone else to a new shortlist, that way we can run back through and take a closer look at the ones we want?

–Hose

He’s the only one that has a full personality as I see it, so I vote yea as well!

–Hose

Alana! What are you doing here? And what are you wearing?

–Hose

Basically, I’m a fighting this huge frog, and that dragon stole the devs!

–Hose

Wait, we might not have to leave. Alana!

–Hose

Well, actually, since you’re here, I was wondering if you could do us a favor.

–Hose

Can we keep our world like this? It’s been so much more fun with things to do besides helping people to the ground.

–Hose

We’re gonna get that soon! We asked Franco for some more architecture and people, so I think everyone’s gonna come back!

–Hose

Hey, I’m Hose, and I’m currently blind thanks to Ms. Trigger Happy over here.

–Hose

I’m afraid no one by that name lives here. My name’s Violet, and her name is Apprentice. This here is SuperRapo, and that there is Sorcerer.

–Violet

This isn’t a village. We don’t have a mayor, and we don’t have jobs. All we have is each other, and we’re thriving!

–Violet

You. I saw those beams homing in on you. Why?

–Violet

Unlock your Shadow? Does that mean you did all this?

–Violet

I’m right here. Where’re the other two?

–Violet

You three! Get in the house, quick!

–Violet

Ok, I’m Violet – I used to be Hose, and I have purple energy I can harness.

–Violet

Ok uh, it’s obvious that used to be Paint, and now he’s a robot. What powers did you get? Electricity, huh? How about Sparky?

–Violet

Oh hey Lambert! I didn’t know you had powers. Welcome to the Guardians I guess.

–Violet

Hey! What are you doing down here?

–Violet

For what?! We need your help out there, there’s no time to wait!

–Violet

Let him go man, we have bigger things to worry about.

–Violet

For the last time, yes! I used to be Hose, Mill used to be Flash, Hoopz used to be Ore, and Sparky used to be Paint.
And before you ask, Lambert is a Guardian now, the Two Realms Plains are on top of the old Shadow Hole, and Shadow Mari took over Mayo’s jobs. Any other questions you already asked?

–Violet

You’ve been here for months now, and you keep asking the same questions!

–Violet

You’re right. I’m sorry, it’s just… all the other Guardians are in a meeting with Joe without me, Lambert has so many friends in The Next Chapter Village, and even the toys I met in the Two Realms Plains last year have joined Crawler’s Larpy Roleplaying thingy. I don’t have anything to do anymore other than work.

–Violet

Sorry, Tree King. Right.
After you let Salem Rose into the Void, he killed all four of us Guardians, you know that story. Anyways, once he left, Joe called Willham and Shadow Mari into canon to fight Salem Rose at this girl Milfre’s request.
Immediately after that, the Tree King started his attack with his group. He spread out to almost every village, and we had to fight his group like, six times at once, with everyone spread out across the Void.
In one of those battles, we fought the Jungle Creature, an ancient Shadow from the Wii Village. It was split into four pieces that scattered across the Void. One of those pieces infected Fiora’s dog – Sandal.
Another fled to the Two Realms Plains to re-open the Shadow Hole. A third jumped onto the Tree King and started destroying the Wii Village. As for that fourth piece, we have no clue where it went, but it only makes sense that it’s somewhere in the Drawn to Life Village.
The Tree King ended up being sealed in the Baki Temple, and Jinxy has been tasked with guarding it. Nothing bad has come from him since, so for now everything’s in good shape.

–Violet

Violet's exposition to the Droogle Leader

The Shadow Village? Oh, that’s an important beat too, I guess. During those fights, the Tree King broke a massive Ink Well in the Wii Village, spilling trapped Shadow creatures throughout the village.
After the battle, they wanted a place to live in peace, so they made that village.

–Violet

Violet's exposition to the Droogle Leader

Shit! Shit, shit, shit, this is bad! I need you to call the other Guardians, Willham, and Shadow Mari right now!

–Violet

It’s down for the count right now, but some people have doubts about how dead it really is. We didn’t lose that many people in the fight, but we did end up losing the Droogle Killer, for good this time. The Creature absorbed its mannequin. / Yeah, we’ll be here. See ya.

–Violet

Phone call to the other Guardians

Yeah. Mill, Hoopz, and Sparky are in a meeting with Joe right now, but I have no clue were Shadow Mari and Willham are.

–Violet

We switched bodies. We left the humans and became the working Raposa. Fujikoda, Mike O’Angelo, El Chippo, and… …Fire Bill.

–Violet

We’ll get on that soon. What was your question about Mayo?

–Violet

I’ll go. After what happened with Mill and Sparky, we need each other’s sixes.

–Violet

Is there any chance anyone could’ve survived?

–Violet

Them, both of them! We can’t leave Lambert behind!

–Violet

No, no!

–Violet

We’re alive! We’re back and we’re alive! I haven’t been able to do this in ages!!

–Skate

I thought the plan was for you guys to be fit with armor.

–Skate

He was assimilated into Tombstone, but Warrior’s body is over here. We still need to get him back somehow.

–Skate

I can do it. All you have to do is channel it!

–Skate

Woah! Teach me how to do that!

–Skate

If she’s taking that bubble, I’m taking Red’s!

–Skate

It doesn’t seem like you guys are doing much!

–Skate

Alright, let’s see what I can do with this. Ah, got it!

–Skate

I’m being a screener! Oh no you don’t!

–Skate

If you want, I can bring her with us. Change her into something you can take with you.

–Skate

I don’t think I can. I can just change the way things work, but she's already gone. She has been for a while.

–Skate

A scepter sounds perfect.

–Skate

Then let’s do it! If it means saving The Void and bringing everyone back, then we should do it!

–Skate

So, what do we do?
