I need a large source of color that doesn’t involve draining the color from anyone in my realm.

Miles

The Color Vat is a location adapted by GuyThatExists that appears in the short stories Blank Slates, Salem Rose Pt. 1, Blank Slates 2, and Blank Slates 3. It is a vat of pure Color in The Next Chapter Village that has been used by three major villains in their plans. Later, The Next Chapter is partially sent into canon by the Master of the Abyss during the final fight against Tombstone. It is unknown if the Color Vat is now in canon or if it was destroyed to make The Abyss.

TowerIcon.png Appearance[edit]

The Color Vat is a large, wooden vat with metal embellishments that holds pure, liquid color. It has metal stairs leading up to it with a wooden deck attacked to it. There are multiple pipes coming out of the vat that supposedly pump out color to other parts of the village.

Book Icon.png Story[edit]

Blank Slates[edit]

The Color Vat is first seen immediately after Shadow Mari's attack on The Void. It is used to cleanse Ore after Shadow Mari attacked him. It was destroyed when Willham erases The Next Chapter Village, and it was recreated when Shadow Mari restored the void with Joe's permission.

Salem Rose Pt. 1[edit]

The Color Vat is not used again until Miles visits The Void for the first time, where he requests to see it. He is led to it by Willham, Flash, and Rocko. When Miles returns as Salem Rose, a corrupted version of himself, he falls into the Color Vat and absorbs some of its Color using the Ruby Earring. The Four Guardians surround him on the rim of the vat, but when the color erupts from the vat, it kills the Guardians.

Blank Slates 2[edit]

The Color Vat is next used by Tree King's army after joining with the Fanon:Jungle Creature. They arrive at the Vat, and the Creature begins using it's Shadow and the vat's Color to bring more Shadow and Ink creatures to The Void. The plan is interrupted by Sparky, who had possessed a body in the Tree King's group. The rest of the Four Guardians arrive and fight the group back, splitting the Jungle Creature into four components.

One of these components stays in the village and possessed Sandal, and it attacks Rocko, Lambert, Nolan, and Fiora. Lambert uses his new powers to throw Sandal into the Color Vat, eradicating the Creature and restoring Rocko's memories as Repair Guy.

Blank Slates 3[edit]

Two years later, the Color Vat is prominently used three times: once at the beginning of Tombstone's war, as Repair Guy is knocked into it, once later in the war when Stocking submerges himself in the vat to remember his friend Steele, and once at the end of the war, when Gargoyle soaks in the vat to heal its cracks.

During the final fight against Tombstone, the Master of the Abyss uses her powers to send parts of the two remaining villages, the Wii and The Next Chapter Villages, to canon, though it is unknown if the Color Vat was a part of this. If not, it was destroyed with the rest of The Void by Temte Mapleleaf, creating The Abyss.

Trivia[edit]

  • The Color Vat can be seen as a parallel to the Ink Vat seen in Wilfre's Lair in the Ink Factory.
    • In the same vein, Salem Rose rising out of the Color Vat could be seen as a parallel to Boss rising out of the Ink Vat.
