Mayo is a Screener created by GuyThatExists that appears in the short story Blank Slates as a major antagonist and the one-shot Heather Dating Sim Prelude as a main character. She also appears in Heather Dating Sim as the main antagonist, being a component of the Master of the Abyss. She makes a minor appearance as both herself and the Master in Blank Slates 3.

She was one of two screeners, the other being Willham. She was the mastermind behind the population of The Void, as she hired Shadow Mari to help her. When her plans were outed, she had a breakdown and explained her history to the entire void. She was eventually deleted by Joseph Tringali at Willham's request and was replaced by Shadow Mari. However, she continued to live on in Willham's form, eventually possessing Temte Mapleleaf when she was given Willham's powers. Mayo convinced her to delete the void and eventually took over her body, becoming the Master of the Abyss. She was eventually defeated by your compassion, trapping her inside Temte for good. Two years later, Temte would temporarily unleash her on Tombstone.

Appearance

As a screener, Mayo is a blue mist that can change her form at will. She also has one physical accessory, being a pair of golden earrings, that can also be dissolved or changed at will.

Story

Blank Slates

Mayo is first seen at the Discussion Grounds with her fellow screener Willham, helping the Four Guardians decide on who to send up to the Developer's Grove. During their discussion, Mayo urges the Guardians to be patient with their choices as she doesn't want Shadow Mari to attack them, however, the Guardians vote for Mildew before hearing Shadow Mari's case, and she attacks the grounds. After killing Willham, Mayo watches as Shadow Mari attacks The Void. After the attack, Mayo askes Rocko and Fox to help rebuild the villages, to which they refuse, and she drifts over to The Next Chapter Village and begins to protect the villagers.

After Alana and Lambert get into an argument in the village, Mayo appears to break the argument up and watches as Alana tries to ascend to the Grove. After failing once again, Alana storms away, causing Fiora to take the rest of the group to Hans at the edge of the village. Fiora goes inside while Mayo, Lambert, and Nolan wait outside.

Eventually, Crawler and his army attack the village, causing the group to panic. However, before a fight can break out, Willham attacks the village and deletes it, along with some of the beings in the area. Afterwards, Mayo chastises Willham and ignores Fiora, Nolan, and Jinxy as they leave. Eventually, she, Willham, Rocko, and Crawler all head to the Shadow Hole but are stopped by Flash, who asks the group to help fight Dinofrog. Mayo refuses, but Willham and Rocko are eager to fight. After Willham defeats Dinofrog, the group continues to the Shadow Hole, but the Guardians reluctantly agree to travel with Mayo.

When everyone makes it to the hole, Willham begins to fly across the pit towards Shadow Mari, so Mayo follows him. After Shadow Mari calls off her army, she notices Willham about to charge her, so Mayo shouts at Shadow Mari to kill him. This causes the residents of the void to question Mayo's alliances and morals, which in turn causes Mayo to break down. She begins to shout at the Guardians about how they hated her for following the rules, and when Willham reforms, she yells at him for destroying everything she worked to build. After her breakdown, she floats to the ground and begins to cry.

After her breakdown, Willham pulls Shadow Mari aside and asks for Mayo's story. Mayo had wanted Willham to be happy when the Guardians were removed after each dev cycle, so she planned to create life around the void by bringing Shadow Mari to life and having her do the work. The two of them had worked together to stage Shadow Mari's attack on the void, explaining why she worked to protect The Next Chapter Village.

Later on, when Willham, Shadow Mari, and the Droogle Leader jump into the Shadow Hole and close it, Willham asks Joe to delete Mayo from the void to which Joe agrees. He makes an announcement into the void, causing Mayo to panic and beg for help as she dissipates. After she's died, all that remained of her was her earrings, which were picked up by Flash.

Heather Dating Sim Prelude

However, Mayo didn't truly die, as her consciousness was absorbed into Willham, where she layed dormant for an unknown amount of time. As The Void was being emptied, Willham gave his powers to Temte Mapleleaf, leaving only his glasses behind. Once inside Temte, Mayo woke up once more, convincing Temte to not only crush Willham's glasses, but to use his powers to destroy the fabric of The Void entirely. Temte reluctantly agrees, and the two of them create The Abyss and the Abyssal Rifts. After Temte goes on her own journey to try and find Alme Palmette, her brother, Mayo convinces her to give up control of her body, forming the Master of the Abyss.

Before Heather Dating Sim

Mayo continued to make cracks in The Abyss, dragging multiple people from other universes into the Drawn to Life universes, including you, sending you into Belleview. However, Mayo does not appear to you until after you leave Belleview and survive Rapoville.

Canon Path

The Master of the Abyss continues to create more and more rifts in The Abyss while you go on your journey. As you leave Rapoville through an Abyssal Rift, the Master confronts you, telling you not show up in The Abyss again, as you do not belong. However, when you arrive in The Void, and a rift opens, the Master recognizes Willham, and Willham recognizes the Master as Mayo. The two of them engage in a fight that ends with you jumping onto and attacking the Master alongside Willham. The Master also notices the Four Guardians and the Mayors of each Void village coming to fight, so she retreats, dragging you into The Abyss with her.

The Master once again berates you for interfering with her plans, and she tosses you around The Abyss until throwing you through yet another rift, landing you in Plushview. As the Master opened more and more cracks, Temte Mapleleaf managed to grab Alme Palmette from The Void, crashing him into both you and Pleather. The Master notices the three of you careening through The Abyss, but is unable to do anything to you as you crash into Roboville.

Now, the Master knows that her plan may be in jeopardy, so she begins to make more and more cracks as fast as possible throughout The Abyss. This eventually leads to Willham making contact with her once again. These new rifts also allow you and Alme to make contact with her, and the three of you begin to fight the Master. The Master berates the three of you for thinking you could stop her, so she kidnaps the five Heathers you've encountered so far, forcing them to play a game for your life.

However, because of your compassion, Temte refuses to let Mayo destroy the universes, and her control of the body increases more and more with every Heather you've been kind to, and every detail you remember about them. In a fit of rage, the Master gives you an unanswerable question, but due to interference from Q-Heather, you are able to answer it correctly. This sends the Mayo into a blind rage, and she begins to attack you. However, the combined efforts of Willham and Alme incapacitate her, allowing Temte to wrestle for control of the body. Mayo and Temte eventually reach a stalemate in their battle, but when Alme gives Temte words of encouragement, Temte is able to completely regain control of the body, trapping Mayo inside her for good.

Non-Canon Paths

• Should you die at any point, Mayo's plan to eradicate the universes is successful.
  • This is subverted in Life In The Void and Nomad.
• If you continue to run away from Mayo and Willham's fight in the void, the two of them reach a stalemate and everything in the void is deleted.
• If Q-Heather is not created, Willham will kill the Master before you can enter the abyss. However, Mayo's plan will still be enacted, as most of the cracks were already made.
• If Willham kills the Master after you and Alme join him in the abyss, her plan is stopped.
• If you are rated poorly by a Heather, or if you answer one of the Master's questions wrong, Temte will relinquish control, and Mayo's plan will be enacted.
• If you hold back Alme from helping during the stalemate, Willham will accidentally delete him, allowing Mayo to take control once again and enact her plan.

Blank Slates 3

Mayo continues to be trapped inside Temte as she continues to travel between universes for an unknown amount of time. Eventually, Temte is brought back to The Void, and she uses some of Mayo's powers as the Master of the Abyss to help fight against Goldie and Tombstone. Eventually, after ejecting her friends out of The Void, Temte agrees to temporarily give control to Mayo to fight the super-powered Tombstone.

Unleashing the Master once more, she began fighting Tombstone alongside the Tree King, though the two of them were soon trapped by buildings thrown by Tombstone. While trying to help the Tree King, Tombstone takes an opportunity to absorb him, but not before he can give the Master his crown. Now empowered by God Rays, the Master is easily able to overpower Tombstone, though the power of her attack knocks Mayo out, returning control of the body to Temte.
