Don’t you fucking move Creator! You’re coming with me, asshole.

–The Engineer

Michael Robert Row, also known as The Engineer, is a Human created by GuyThatExists that appears in the short stories Heather Dating Sim as a supporting character and Blank Slates 3 as a cameo.

He is a version of Mike that lives in Roboville, a version of Rapoville where he had mechanized everything. He is much colder and more calculated than his canon counterpart, although he is easily excited by prospects of escape, and he ends up directly helping You and Alme come face to face with the Master of the Abyss. After you jump into The Abyss, he begins to harness Abyssal Energy for use in Roboville, helping him create communication between alternate universes. He would later send Q-Heather to find Temte Mapleleaf, as The Void needed her help.

Being a version of Mike, he shares many of the same attributes, although he appears much older. He has grown a small goatee and now wears glasses. He also wears a lighter blue shirt and a long, white lab coat.

Before Heather Dating Sim[edit]

After the events of Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter, Mike was never woken up from his coma, and thus, he stayed in the Raposa world. Eventually, he began to update and mechanize Rapoville thanks to technological advancements from Galactic Jungle. He continued to upgrade the village, eventually mechanizing the Raposa and creating the Mechanized Raposa. He continued to develop the village, mechanizing Frostwind to keep the Raposa from leaving, but something eventually happened to the villagers, causing Mike to shut down all but seven or eight Raposa, taking away the free will of all but Heather 2.0.

Heather Dating Sim[edit]

Canon Path[edit]

You first meet The Engineer when Heather 2.0 leads you into his office. She asks him to explain quantum technology to you and plugs into a quantum port to access your memories. This gives Mike the idea to give Heather 2.0 a quantum upgrade. He runs off with her after sending you to find Pleather and Alme. He quickly returns with the now upgraded Q-Heather.

He urges you to jump into The Abyss to fight the Master of the Abyss, and you oblige, jumping in with Alme. Mike doesn't play a major role in the fight against the Master, but uses the time while the Abyssal Rifts were open to harvest Abyssal Energy and contain it. After the fight, while people reunite from across the universes, Mike explains that he now had access to the energy.

Eventually, everyone begins to leave Roboville, and Mike wishes you luck in life. Later on, he derives a way to communicate between universes, sending you a text from Roboville.

Non-Canon Paths[edit]

  • If you break into The Engineer's Lab, there is a high likelihood that Mike will shoot you.
  • If you and Alme break into Heather 2.0's chamber, he will break in and try to kill Alme.
    • If you shoot Mike during this segment, both of you will die.
    • If you don't shoot Mike during this segment, you will give up on life but be sucked into the abyss.
  • If you, Alme, and Pleather all meet up in The Engineer's Lab, he will explain the multiverse to you.
  • If you decide to kill the Master, Mike and Willham will create the 3DS Stylus.
  • If you decide to spend the rest of your day with Q-Heather, Mike will see the error of his ways and be sent back to his Belleview.

Blank Slates 3[edit]

The Engineer is next seen during a lunch with Willham, Pleather, and Heather 2.0 some time after Heather Dating Sim concludes. He gets a call from Temte Mapleleaf, asking for help with locating the displaced people. This ends their lunch, as Willham and Pleather both head back to their respective realms, and Mike works with 2.0 to help Temte.

Mike is next seen working on Maribot, where he gets a call from Alme, asking him to help locate Temte and send her to The Void to help with an emergency. Mike agrees to help and runs over to Heather 2.0's room, telling her what Alme had told him. Heather 2.0 jumps into action, and Mike stays behind in Roboville.

Quote Icon.png Quotes[edit]

I saw! Who is that?

–The Engineer

Do they want to hear about it, or do they want to use it?

–The Engineer

As for how you can get home, I can take this quantum drive and directly connect it to 2.0, that way we could – in theory mind you – calculate where the cracks would appear and jump in.

–The Engineer

Where are you gonna be?

–The Engineer

Pleather and Alme are both at the beach looking at scraps, go grab them and bring them to the Eternal Flame Pedestal!

–The Engineer

Y/n, Pleather, Alme? Introducing Q-Heather!

–The Engineer

We can’t. If we go in and something goes wrong, we won’t be able to get you back out. All of Q-Heather’s servers are built in this Roboville, so we need to stay back and defend them if the cracks try to break anything.

–The Engineer

I ended up collecting a shitton of it. We have enough energy to power Roboville until the universe dies out!

–The Engineer

Y/n, it’s Mike. From Roboville. If you’re getting this message, we’ve cracked something big!

–The Engineer

Who are you and how did you get past the gate?

–The Engineer

You know who I am, don’t you?

–The Engineer

Hm, so I’m not crazy. That’s a nice thing to confirm. So, here's the first question. Where are you from?

–The Engineer

Oh, I can relate to that. Now, second question. Who are you a variant of? Me? Jowee? Fuckin’… Teo?

–The Engineer

You’ve met different Heathers? You’ve been able to jump between universes? How? Please, you have to tell me!

–The Engineer

You have to tell me more! How’d you get the cracks to open?

–The Engineer

Maybe we can find a way to control it…

–The Engineer

You look like me. Is this why you came here? Just to fuck around with my stuff?

–The Engineer

Where is your home anyways? Belleview? Rapoville? The Void?

–The Engineer

Oh! You’re from Earth! That clears everything up!

–The Engineer

Alright, I have an idea! When the cracks open up, I can connect this to 2.0, and she can analyze the multiverse! All we have to do is jump into the crack with her to get the results!

–The Engineer

2.0, you have no idea how important this is. Meet me by the pedestal!

–The Engineer

Y/n, please come with me! We’re both gonna get to go home now!

–The Engineer

2.0!!

–The Engineer

The system’s fried. Completely unresponsive to input. Plan’s gone y/n. We’re not going home.

–The Engineer

That would make sense. Jowee was an excellent explorer, so anyone able to hold their own out of their own universe would surely be a version of him.

–The Engineer

So, is this your first universe or your second?

–The Engineer

Well now you have to tell me how you got here.

–The Engineer

Nothing to set either of them apart at a glance? Nothing obviously missing? No one trapped in a bottle?

–The Engineer

I’m sure that it doesn’t connect too closely, although it’s odd that you got pulled into these worlds if yours is so different.

–The Engineer

My Heather? From Belleview-X? You’re certain?

–The Engineer

You should come join us then, meet me and y/n at the pedestal.

–The Engineer

Maybe Belleview-? is actually Belleview-X. Wanna go meet Heather and find out?

–The Engineer

The system’s fried. Completely unresponsive to input.

–The Engineer

She has her Mike. I’ve seen this one before, long time ago.

–The Engineer

Ok cool, you’re just as lost as I am then. Honestly, I have no idea what to do with you if you don’t know at the very least who you are. Just go… find yourself an open home or something.

–The Engineer

Sorry, just go in.

–The Engineer

Oh, hey you two. Getting along well?

–The Engineer

I really got you thinkin’ that much? Well, be my guest; I’m curious too.

–The Engineer

No obvious matches. Hmmm, 11.6% possibility for Jowee, and that’s the highest confidence I can see. 10.25% Mari, 9.5% Mike, 7% DJ. Nothing that meets any good estimation threshold.

–The Engineer

The fuck was that!? Heather, scan the village!

–The Engineer

Don’t just stand here! Follow her!

–The Engineer

Who are you. Y/n. How did you get here?

–The Engineer

How do I find a crack? Hey. Answer the question.

–The Engineer

Alright. Give me one good reason not to kill you right here.

–The Engineer

Is that so? Prove it. Get the Master here, now.

–The Engineer

Good to know. Thank you 2.0.

–The Engineer

Looks like you’ve done everything you needed to. Goodbye, y/n.

–The Engineer

After this long stuck in this prison, that’s hardly a concern.

–The Engineer

Any last words? Good. See you around y/n.

–The Engineer

Seriously? Begging for your life at a moment like this? You do realize what’s going on here, right?

–The Engineer

You really wanna go home y/n? I do too. Let’s get the fuck out of here.

–The Engineer

We don’t have time to discuss that right now. Did all of you get here through the cracks?

–The Engineer

Do any of you know how to navigate the Abyss?

–The Engineer

You really don’t have any idea how ironic that is. Although if you aren’t gonna cooperate, I don’t have a use for you. I’ll just go find your other friend.

–The Engineer

Hello friend! This is the Engineer speaking! Our protection drone here has noticed that you have left the village! We all know that for our systems to work properly, we have to stay in range of my signals. Now, you are being delivered to a safe location where you can be stored until we can fix you up.

–The Engineer

Through Frostguard

The system’s fried. Completely unresponsive to input. Y/n, you better have a damn good explanation for all this.

–The Engineer

Why did you do that? You could’ve died! Alme nearly broke down!

–The Engineer

2.0! You’re back!

–The Engineer

I don’t know and frankly I don’t care. You’re alive!

–The Engineer

What are you doing? We just got her back and I’m not letting you break her!

–The Engineer

So, Alme. Y/n. Nice to meet you two in person! I’m Mike Row.

–The Engineer

Oh, don’t think I didn’t listen in to everything you two talked about when you got here. I’m sure you’ve met some form of Heather than looks like a Raposa. This is our version of her, Heather 2.0!.

–The Engineer

Don’t mind if I do. This is where we are right now, Rapoville-X.

–The Engineer

Anyways, Rapoville-X is the home of Heather 2.0, Jowbot, basically everyone here but me. I’m from Belleview-X, a hypothetical Belleview that exists connected to this Rapoville.

–The Engineer

Because I have the memories from that realm. I remember Aly, my Heather, all of it. The only thing I can’t remember is how I got here or how I could get back. Alme, you’re a special case. You’re outside of most of the realms in The Void, meaning you’re not from a Belleview or Rapoville. However, you seem to be connected to Belleview+ and Rapoville+ as I’ve been calling them.

–The Engineer

Belleview-DC5. That’s what I’m calling it.

–The Engineer

Well, according to this data, in that town called Bellevue, there’s both Jeremiah and Heather. Turns out, there’s a version of our lives that exists as video games. Drawn to Life. Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter. Drawn to Life: Two Realms.

–The Engineer

You bastards! What have you done!?

–The Engineer

Oh, don’t think I didn’t listen in to everything you three talked about when you got here. In fact, Pleather got here a long while before you two!

–The Engineer

Now, you Pleather, you’re from Plushview, or Belleview-P as I have it labeled. We currently don’t know anything about the connected Rapoville-P however.

–The Engineer

Oh my god you’re alive… Heather… You’re here and you’re alive!!

–The Engineer

How’d you get here? Actually nevermind that, we can get home now! I can finally go back to Belleview!!

–The Engineer

What the hell is going on here!? Fuckin’ hell you guys, you’re gonna kill her!

–The Engineer

Alright I’ve had enough of this.

–The Engineer

Alright, let’s get you over to my lab, shall we?

–The Engineer

So, y/n. What realm are you from? Hello? Earth to y/n?

–The Engineer

Get off of me, asshole! I’m trying to save her life!

–The Engineer

Don’t you fucking move Creator!

–The Engineer

You’re coming with me, asshole.

–The Engineer

Almost. You have one try Creator. Send us back.

–The Engineer

Alright, you had your chance. I’m going home whether you like it or not.

–The Engineer

Holographic? Oh, you mean 2.0! No, you haven’t met her yet, just seen her likeness. But you have to tell me more! How’d you get the cracks to open?

–The Engineer

We’re out of time!!

–The Engineer

The defense mechanism. I added it in case anyone tampered with the Quantum Drive. It sends them back to right before the incident.

–The Engineer

Hey, y/n? Can we talk for a second?

–The Engineer

I think I have a way to send everyone you and Pleather back home if you’d like.

–The Engineer

It’s okay buddy. You’re almost ready to go.

–The Engineer

Huh, that’s weird. Anyways. You should join me down here.

–The Engineer

Hello! We were told to come here by Willham, and this is supposed to help you send us home.

–The Engineer

Good luck out there, y/n.

–The Engineer

So, you got the hots for my sister?

–The Engineer

You better be careful with that. Don’t need to get on my wrong side.

–The Engineer

Oh don’t worry. I know that. Just know that if for any reason, you fuck her up? You’re done.

–The Engineer

Alright everyone, charge up!

–The Engineer

I was wrong about the village. This wasn’t the right path.

–The Engineer

When the Creator didn’t send me home, I thought if I took control of the world, took the place of the Creator, then I could find a way home for myself. I was wrong.

–The Engineer

Hey, yeah, what’s going on? Sorry, I’m in the middle of a thing right now, can I head over later?

–The Engineer

Just a minute! Yeah, later. Like twenty minutes. Ok cool, see you then.

–The Engineer

Alright, we gotta start wrapping this up.

–The Engineer

Oh, just Temte. She’s found a lead for more displacements and needs us to check her work again.

–The Engineer

Alright, we really do have to get going now. Temte needs our maps and you guys gotta get back to your fights.

–The Engineer

I’ll see you guys next time for sure! And hey, if you can get ahold of Y/N, tell them to come over some time!

–The Engineer

Alme! Hey buddy, how are you? What’s up?

–The Engineer

You did, but since she’s on her quest right now, she asked me to take her calls. What’s going on?

–The Engineer

I’ll see what I can do, Alme. I’ll get her over there as fast as I can.

–The Engineer

Void emergency; I need you to get Temte to Alme as fast as possible.

–The Engineer
