Attention Guardians! We have decided to bring back one cut character for the next game! The four of you will decide who it is, and report back to your two screeners. Thank you for your services!

Joe

The Four Guardians are a group that appear in the short story Blank Slates. They act as the decision makers in The Void, and worked against Shadow Mari after her attack. Although their powers are not explicity stated in Blank Slates, each of the Guardians has the ability to control and fight with an element.

Book Icon.png Story[edit]

The Four Guardians were commissioned by Joe to make decisions in The Void alongside the screeners Willham and Mayo. They were also tasked with lowering beings into the Void after they were cut or deemed unused. After the development cycle of each game, they would be deleted until the next game started development.

During the development cycle for Drawn to Life: Two Realms, Joe called the Guardians to the Discussion Grounds to pick a character to revive for the upcoming game. When Shadow Mari is passed over by the group, she attacks the Void, killing Willham and covering Ore in Shadow. The rest of the Guardians revive him in Lavasteam's color vat, and the make their way back to the discussion grounds. When they get there, they find Mildew, Joe, and Franco laying on the ground dazed. They help them up and explain the situation before being ambushed by Drakon and Dinofrog.

Dinofrog attacks the Guardians, destroying the discussion grounds during the battle, and the Guardians get help from Alana, Willham, and the Droogle Killer during the fight. Weary of Mayo due to new information they got from the devs, the Guardians ride to the Shadow Hole with the screeners. When they arrive at the hole, they fight off hordes of Shadow and Ink monsters until Shadow Mari calls them off. When Mayo orders Shadow Mari to kill Willham, the Guardians are among the beings who begin to question her allegiance.

After Mayo's breakdown, Paint and Ore protect her body while Flash and Hose ask Franco to leave the Hose Void populated so that they wouldn't be bored or alone outside of development cycles. Franco ascends to the Developer's Grove as Flash and Hose join Paint and Ore. When Joe makes his decrees to leave the Void populated and to delete Mayo, the Guardians are some of the beings in the group that wishes Aly luck. When Fiora names Sandal, Ore is the first in the group to laugh in agreement at the name.

During Salem Rose's attack on the void, all four of the Guardians were killed by a wave of color he created. However, the spirits of the Guardians left their bodies and left to inhabit other bodies, with Flash becoming Mill, Paint becoming Sparky, Hose becoming Violet, and Ore becoming Hoopz. The Guardians, now separated from each other and curious to find out why the Wii Village had been attack, each go on their own to stop the new forces attacking the void. After some time, they regroup at the Color Vat, where they face off against the Tree King, Squid, and Jungle Creature. During this battle, Lambert gains water-based abilities, and Violet makes him a Guardian.

After winning the battle, Mill is hesitant to say they won, as the Jungle Creature had split into four and began to escape. The Guardians follow one piece of the creature to the Two Realms Plains, where they, along with the screeners and others who were there, fight the newly formed Shadow Squid. After this fight, they go to the Wii Village, seeing a new Tree King attacking. They defeat the Tree King while Lambert splits off to defeat a corrupted Sandal, destroying three out of four pieces of the Jungle Creature.

A week later, the Guardians and screeners, sans Lambert, go to each of the villages to see how they are recovering from the Tree King's attacks. Mill checks up on The Next Chapter Village, learning about Rocko's identity crisis. He helps Rocko realize himself as Repair Guy, and Mill returns to the Guardians' HQ to find the Droogle Leader waiting inside.

Guardian Name Body Name Element Notes
Mill Doug Wind After being killed by Salem Rose, Flash's spirit left to inhabit Doug, creating Mill. He has the ability to control wind, and he was pivotal in the defeat of the Tree King. He is still the leader of the Guardians, and he began the search for the other three Guardians.
Sparky Robot Electricity After being killed by Salem Rose, Paint's spirit left to inhabit Robot, creating Sparky. Unlike the other Guardians, Sparky is unable to speak and its body lacks the needed digits to sign, making communication exceedingly difficult. Sparky acted as a temporary spy within the Tree King's group, and it was pivotal in defeating Squid.
Violet ??? Energy After being killed by Salem Rose, Hose's spirit left to inhabit a currently unknown Raposa, creating Violet. Instead of following a lead or fighting against the Tree King, Violet opted to relax in the Two Realms Plains with her new friends. However, this was short-lived and Violet was called to action, being a key part of defeating Shadow Squid.
Hoopz Barks Energy After being killed by Salem Rose, Ore's spirit left to inhabit Barks, creating Hoopz. Hoopz immediately went to fight the Tree King, and he worked with Fox to fight Red Dragon and Gingerfre. He quickly regrouped with the other Guardians and helped take down the Tree King's group.
Lambert N/A Water After picking up Mizu's Trident from Squid's remains, Lambert was given water-based abilities, causing Violet to make him a Guardian. He would go on to be the key factor in defeating the three pieces of the Jungle Creature, popping Shadow Squid, purifying Sandal, and extinguishing the new Tree King.

Guardian Name Body Name Element Notes
Flash Fujikoda Light Flash is the leader of the Four Guardians, although she doesn't seem to have any unique responsibilities. She was the first to suggest that the screeners and Guardians cull the shortlist of characters, and gave the second vote for Mildew. She was the one who convinced Willham to help fight Dinofrog and also one of the prominent voices to question Mayo before her breakdown. Flash is able to control light and use it to attack opponents. She was killed by Salem Rose during his attack on the void.
Paint Mike O'Angelo Color Paint is a member of the Four Guardians. He was the first to suggest that they give the cut and unused beings a second chance at life, and gave the first vote for Mildew. He was one of the two Guardians to protect Mayo before her breakdown. Paint is able to control Color and use it to attack opponents. He was killed by Salem Rose during his attack on the void.
Hose Fire Bill Water Hose is a member of the Four Guardians. He backed up Flash's decision to cull the shortlist and gave the third vote for Mildew. He also convinced Alana to help find the Droogle Killer to defeat Dinofrog, and asked Franco to let the Void remain populated. Hose is able to control water and use them to attack opponents. He was killed by Salem Rose during his attack on the void.
Ore ??? Earth Ore is a member of the Four Guardians. He is typically silent unless feeling strong emotions, shown when he chastised Shadow Mari immediately before her attack. He was also the first to laugh at Sandal's name. Ore is able to control rocks and minerals and use them to attack opponents. He was killed by Salem Rose during his attack on the void.
