–Joseph Tringali
Joseph Tringali, also known as Joe, is a Developer Avatar created by GuyThatExists based on the Lead Designer and Executive Producer of the same name. He appears in the short stories Blank Slates, Blank Slates 2, and Blank Slates 3 as a major character, and the stories Salem Rose Pt. 1 and Salem Rose Pt. 2 as a minor character. He also appears in the one-shots Self-Awareness, GenericChallenge, the original Drawn to Life, and in a non-canon route of Heather Dating Sim Chapter 6 in the Developer's Grove.
As one of the lead developers in the Developer's Grove, he was placed in charge when Miah vanished. He would later be temporarily overthrown by Drakon and the Droogle Leader, though he would be freed by the efforts of the citizens of The Void. He would punish the Droogle Leader by forcing him to work with Joe in Drawn to Life: Two Realms, and he would assist both Salem Rose and Milfre in their attempts to get into The Void. After the Droogle Leader goes missing, he leads the charge in searching for Miah and apprehending GenericChallenge, which would lead to him getting the Stylus. When Tombstone attacks The Void, Joe takes in the refugees, and he brings Eric Kozlowsky to the Grove. In a fight with Tombstone's undead Droogle army, he would seal off the Grove from canon and trap both himself and the Droogles in the Grove, unable to escape.
Appearance[edit]
Joe is a human with brown hair that resides in a small, green bush.
Story[edit]
Blank Slates[edit]
Joe is first heard by the Four Guardians, asking them to send one cut character into the Developer's Grove. However, Joe is first seen when Mildew is chosen by the Guardians. Joe gives Mildew a tour of the grove, teaching Mildew about what to expect in the games. However, he, along with Mildew and David Franco, get overthrown by the Droogle Leader and the rest of the Droogles in their mutiny. The three of them are stabbed by the Droogle Leader's Sword and sent into The Void.
In The Void, Joe, Franco, and Mildew wake up to see the Four Guardians and explain their situation. Joe asks about the sudden appearance of the Shadow Hole and Shadow Mari, along with everything else that had been created. Before he can get a complete answer though, Drakon and Dinofrog attack the group. Drakon captures Joe, Franco, and Mildew and takes them to the Shadow Hole.
At the Hole, Drakon releases the three behind Shadow Mari, holding them hostage during the upcoming battle. Eventually, after a long fight at the hole, Mayo tells Shadow Mari to shoot a beam of Shadow at Willham, prompting Joe, among others, to ask why Mayo was working with Shadow Mari. Mayo breaks down due to all the questions, and in the wake of her breakdown, Joe and Mildew return to the grove.
Back in the Grove, they are met by Franco, who tells Joe about Hose's request to keep The Void as it is. While he considers the request, Willham, Shadow Mari, and the Droogle Leader all appear in the Grove, and Willham hands the Leader off to Joe. Before they leave, Joe grants Hose's wish, and Shadow Mari brings life to The Void. Joe also deleted Mayo at Willham's request. Afterwards, Joe puts the Droogle Leader in charge of progress checks in Drawn to Life: Two Realms as a punishment.
Self-Awareness[edit]
Joe is seen again when Aly sneaks into the Developer's Grove, and he tries to help recover her memories. When he and the Droogle Leader can't help her, they send her back to The Void using the Droogle Leader's Sword.
Salem Rose Pt. 1[edit]
Joe is next seen arguing with the Droogle Leader about a hypothetical Two Realms Village, with Joe holding firm in his beliefs that they need to begin work on the village so that when Drawn to Life: Two Realms released, its cut and unused residents would have a place to stay. Miles snuck around him undetected, stabbing himself with the Droogle Leader's Sword. When the sword falls to the ground, both Joe and the Droogle Leader turn around to look at it. Joe jokingly asks if they gave the Droogles psychic powers, and the Droogle Leader denies that he moved the sword.
Salem Rose Pt. 2[edit]
Joe is later found by Milfre when she arrives in the Developer's Grove, asking him about The Void. He waves her off, stating that unless she plans to kill Salem Rose, she needs to leave. When Milfre admits that she plans on fighting him, he calls Willham and Shadow Mari up to the Grove. When Milfre returns with Kamalah and Jowee, Joe sets the well for 1982, and watches as they leave.
He is later seen after Salem Rose is killed, when Willham and Shadow Mari bring the injured Raposa back to the Grove to recover. Joe sets the well for 2013 and says goodbye to Stampy, next setting the well for 2042. He says goodbye to the rest of the Raposa, leaving him and Willham alone in the Grove. When Willham asks to return to The Void, Joe tells him that the Droogle Leader's Sword had gone missing.
Blank Slates 2[edit]
After being joined by Shadow Mari, the three of them begin to search the Developer's Grove for the Droogle Leader, but cannot find him. Joe realizes that if they can't find the Droogle Leader, they need to instead find Miah. He calls Aly and Franco Key to the Grove so they can find Miah in Belleview, revealing that he took the role of Mike's father, Mr. Row. He sends them and Shadow Mari off to find him, while he and Willham stay behind to keep searching for the Droogle Leader.
When the group returns, they bring GenericChallenge with them. Joe questions GenericChallenge about Miah's whereabouts, and he agrees to tell them as long as he can continue to roam free in canon. Joe agrees to his terms and GenericChallenge reveals that Miah is trapped in his basement. Joe sends the group back to get him, and they return Miah to the grove. Miah gives the group a new tool to send people to The Void, the Stylus, and everyone but him and Joe return to their homes.
Now alone with Miah, Joe asks if he can go through with causing the crash that kickstarts the Drawn to Life series. Miah reveals that he's hesitant, so Joe decides to erase his memory of being a developer so that he could live out his final moments in peace. Miah thanks Joe and his memory is erased, so Joe sends him to the carnival with the rest of his family. Joe then gets back to searching for the Droogle Leader.
Heather Dating Sim[edit]
Joe only appears in a non-canon path of Heather Dating Sim where You decide to let Willham kill the Master of the Abyss. Six months after her death, The Engineer and Willham work together to create a device that would be capable of sending everyone home. You, Willham, The Engineer, and Pleather all jump into Roboville's Wishing Well and appear in the Developer's Grove, where Joe is waiting to take the Stylus and send you all home.
Blank Slates 3[edit]
Joe is next seen a few years later, holding a meeting in the Developer's Grove about GenericChallenge. Attending the meeting are himself, David Franco, Aly, Mill, Hoopz, and Sparky, the latter three of whom get a call that the fourth piece of the Jungle Creature - Tombstone - had been spotted attacking the Drawn to Life Village. The entire group, minus the developers, returns to The Void. Joe and Franco then decide to continue their search for GenericChallenge.
When Joe is next seen, the residents of The Void have begun ascending into the Grove, putting a pause on Joe and Franco's plans. When Willham arrives, Joe is attempting to delete the Jungle Creature's files from the Control Booth, but he cannot, as Tombstone keeps infecting other files. As he thinks about what to do, he sends Willham to Shadow Mari's location with the Stylus.
He is next seen much later, when Repair Guy visits to try and find his daughter. Joe suggests that he search around the Grove to see if she ascended while he and Franco discuss how to best combat Tombstone, eventually deciding that they would need to ask its creator - Eric "Koz" Kozlowsky - for help. He sends Franco, now disguised as Daniel James, and Repair Guy, "disguised" as Rocko, into canon to hunt GenericChallenge down while he attempts to get ahold of Koz.
When Koz arrives in the Grove and begins looking in the Control Booth, Joe explains that The Void had been populated and that the Jungle Creature had been left unchecked. Koz explains that even though he was annoyed, he would do whatever it took to not be deactivated again, telling Joe that when an Avatar is deactivated, the people they emulate keep living their lives, scaring Joe. Before Joe can respond to that, however, Wilfred and William jump out of the Wishing Well with GenericChallenge.
Joe and Koz pull the three Raposa into the Control Booth, interrogating them about where they were, and why they brought GenericChallenge back. When Repair Guy returns to the Grove, entering the Booth, Koz leaves in frustration, and Joe berates GenericChallenge, eventually throwing all the Raposa out and bringing Koz back in, shutting the blinds. When Goldie and the rest of Tombstone's undead Droogle army attack the Grove, Repair Guy tries to get Joe's attention but fails.
Joe and Koz eventually open the blinds to see the fighting happening in the Grove, and Joe gives Koz the Stylus to run around the Grove, sending people to safety. He also deactivates the Wishing Well to keep the Droogles from escaping into canon. However, after making a lap around the Grove, Joe calls him back to the booth and tells him that he could simply write the word "safe" with the Stylus, and it would know his intent. Koz begins another lap around the Grove, until he and Joe are the only ones left in the Grove with the Droogle army. As the army tries to break down the door to the Booth, Joe admits that his plan was to send everyone to canon to keep them safe, and he sends Koz away as well.
When Goldie breaks into the booth, Joe smashes the main computer in the Booth and snaps the Stylus in two, trapping himself and the Droogles in the Grove forever. Goldie threatens to absorb him to learn how to make another, but Joe reminds her that Miah was the one who made it, not him, so absorbing him wouldn't help them out. The Droogle army then retreats, leaving Joe alone in the Grove. He slowly wanders around for a bit before jumping into the Wishing Well and floating in the water inside.
