Selfishness is a Shadow character adapted by GuyThatExists that appears in the short story Blank Slates 3 as a minor character. He joins forces with Gingerfre and Depression after the fight in the Drawn to Life Village and helps them fight against Tombstone in the Shadow Village.

Appearance

Selfishness is a chubby Shadow being that has a large, toothy grin and no eyes. He has bulky arms and a large coin that he carries with him.

Story

Selfishness is first seen just after Gingerfre and Red Dragon part ways, briefly influencing Gingerfre to be more selfish. After revealing himself and Depression to their mayor, the three of them physically join together to fight Tombstone, who peeks out of the ground to ambush them. During the fight, Selfishness acts as Gingerfre's coat of Shadow, as he had lost his own.

After Tombstone is taken down by the combined forces of many fighters, Gingerfre travels to the edge of the village to clean up the damages from Tombstone's final attack. The three of them separate and begin cleaning up, however, Tombstone begins reforming while they clean up. While the cleanup crew is distracted, Depression attempts to expand its bubble to encompass the entire crew, though Selfishness jumps out of the way with Mill and Sparky. Selfishness then runs away and is not seen again.

• As seen in concept art, Selfishness is a precursor to Arrogance.
• Selfishness's fate after Blank Slates 3 is currently unknown, as it is unknown where Selfishness went after running away from Depression.
  • If he ascended into the Developer's Grove, it is likely he was sent into canon by Eric Kozlowsky, which would place him in Yulshade.
  • It he didn't ascend, it is possible that he was either sent into canon by the Master of the Abyss or destroyed by Temte Mapleleaf as she destroyed The Void.
