–Karat
Karat is a Raposa created by GuyThatExists that is mentioned in the short story The Lavasteam Chronicles Part Two, as the real Karat had been replaced by an Ameba before the events of the story. She also appears in The 35 as a character in 4 out of 105 segments.
She is a member of Watersong's guard and is supposed to be stationed on Ex-Isle. After Allight's attack and the restructuring of the Royal Guard, Karat became Rose's head of Ex-Isle. Later, they are invited to join Lychee's yoga group. During a White Boomaphant, they get their hands on a chunk of Mannequite, and after investigation, they discover and become addicted to All-Lite, eventually landing them back on Ex-Isle as an exile. As an exile, they discover that Terra was working with a revived Salem
Appearance[edit]
Karat is a tan-furred female Raposa, typically wearing a pair of red-lensed glasses.
Story[edit]
The Lavasteam Chronicles[edit]
Sometime before being stationed to Ex-Isle, Karat is replaced by an Ameba doppelganger. This doppelganger is eventually defeated by the Creator, and the real Karat is restored. However, almost immediately after, Karat was enthralled by Allight. She was later freed from Allight's influence when Fext was killed during the battle in Lavasteam.
The 35[edit]
2010[edit]
Karat appears again a year later, working with Rose, Miney, Mog, and Kacha to restructure the Royal Guards, keeping them on track during the meeting and reading through the list of all current exiles to make sure their punishment matched their crimes.
2015[edit]
A few years later, Karat is invited into Lychee's yoga group, which also invites her to a White Boomaphant gift exchange organized by Lychee. They bring a replica pair of their sunglasses, which is picked by Robin. She ends up stealing Emily Roma's gift from Mog, a robotics kit, in an attempt to return Mog's pajamas, which had been stolen by Robin.
Later, when Lychee opens Terra's gift, a chunk of Mannequite, they jump into action and confiscate it, asking Mog to put it in their office. As an apology for stealing her present, Karat tosses Mog's pajamas to Lychee.
2016[edit]
The next month, Karat presents the chunk of Mannequite to Rose, expecting her to take action, but she is too focused on work, instead offering that Karat focus on training their successor. Frustrated, Karat leaves and stares into the gemstone, losing track of herself and finding herself outside the underground dock. Being brought back to reality by Maximilien and Francois, who inadvertently tip her off to the underground All-Lite trade.
Francois leaves the other two to talk, and Maximilien divulges the process of creating and selling the drug, and he runs off. Karat then decides to investigate his fruit stand, finding a small bag of All-Lite and taking it with them as they go to deliver the chunk of Mannequite to Key.
2018[edit]
Over the next two years, Karat becomes addicted to All-Lite and becomes involved in the All-Lite trade, pinning all her actions on Terra. Eventually, she is caught selling All-Lite to Pourquoi by Juliette, who brings her to Rose. During their meeting, Karat airs out every grievance they had with Rose, who listens and discharges Karat from the guard, promising not to exile her if she exited the All-Lite trade. However, Karat did not, and was subsequently caught again and exiled.
When Karat arrives on Ex-Isle, with Colepere taking over her ship as she disembarked, Mog and Juliette meet her and read through her rights and roles on the island, much to Karat's dismay. Mog apologizes, and three of Karat's exile friends - Lychee, Robin, and Emily Roma - run down to meet her on the dock. Karat is then taken to her new room, where Robin gifts them a key stolen from Terra, though Emily takes it away, as it was the key to the Mannequite den. As they leave Karat to adjust to their new room, Lychee invites them to yoga, and Karat happily joins her.
2026[edit]
Years later, Karat listens with the rest of the yoga group as Lychee and Terra attempt to escape the island. When Lychee approaches the group to get them to escape with her, Karat stays behind. However, after Lychee attacks Zargon, Karat tells him that they would be back, and runs to the docks.
At the docks, Karat meets with Terra as the guards and other exiles begin fighting and apologizes for pinning their All-Lite crimes on him. Terra suddenly shuts down, and reveals that Salem was the one who organized his release, not Miney or Moe. Karat asks how Wilfre could possibly be alive, and the fighting comes to a halt as all eyes turn to Terra. He explains that he was contacted by Salem and that he was now working for him, and Karat lets Lychee approach him and threaten him. However, when Zargon joins the group at the docks, Karat is the first to run back inside.
