The Ink Factory is a location that is possibly in Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter (Wii), found in the heart of Shadow City.
Appearance
Not much is known about the Ink Factory's appearance, but it may be the building that is composed of the Shadow Palace Gates, Shadow Palace, and Wilfre's Lair. If this is the case, then the Factory is a large palace that has a tall tower in the heart of it. There are an abundance of houses and sewage systems making up this palace, with the notable one being the maze found in Shadow Palace Gates.
Story
Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter (Wii)
After realizing where the gate at the end of the Shadow Labyrinth led them, Jowee, Circi, and the Hero determine that the gate is how the thief has been entering the village undetected. They admit that they have to return to the city to see if Wilfre is there.
When Jowee and the Hero arrive at the gates, they notice that Wilfre's Ink Factory has started back up again, allowing him to make more Shadow creatures. Realizing that the monsters will attack the village, the two decide to collect all the ink that has been created thus far. When they collect the barrels of ink, they decide to tell Mari that the factory is running again, and they return to Rapoville.
With the information they now have, Jowee and the Hero tell Circi and Mari that the factory is now up and running. Circi determines that the only possible way for this to be true is if Wilfre had returned. Mari sends Jowee and the Hero back into Shadow City, more specifically to Wilfre's Lair, to see what he's planning, and Jowee reluctantly agrees to return to the city. Eventually, Jowee and the Hero notice a Shadowy Figure with an object in their hands. When Jowee calls out to the figure, it runs away from the group and disappears in a puff of smoke. They continue through the palace, but the figure isn't seen again.
Jowee and the Hero report back to Mari and Circi about the shadowy figure running away with a book. Circi claims that it must've been Wilfre's Journal, hastily claiming for certain that "WILFRE HAS RETURNED!" Mari then sends the Hero into Wilfre's Lair to retrieve it.
Eventually, the Hero comes across a room with a giant ink vat with Wilfre's Journal resting on top of it. When the Hero collects the journal, the vat begins to burst, and Shadow begins to fill the room. The Hero climbs up the tower, and eventually comes to a clearing. When the shadow gets to the clearing, it comes to a halt, and the Boss rises out of the shadow. It will attack the Hero and eventually exhaust itself, revealing it's weak spot, the Boss' Breakfast attached to the end of its tongue. The Hero attacks it and the Shadow begins to rise again until they reach another clearing. The Hero attacks the new weak spot, the shadow rises again to a final clearing, the tip of the tower, attacks the final weak spot, and defeats the Boss. The Hero then finds a Pen and Pencil suspended in midair, and collects them before returning to Rapoville.
Circi Loves Wilfre
In the short story Circi Loves Wilfre, the Ink Factory is run posthumously by Athys. After she defaces the Book of Life and leaves the situation in Wilfre's hands, she flees back to the factory to restart its operations. While she is working, she is summoned by Circi and Wilfre at the gate of the Factory. Athys attacks the two, converting them into Shadow beings, before being attacked by the two of them in return. They cover her in Shadow and transform her into Boss. After a brief second fight, Boss brings Wilfre to the top of the Factory and explains his plans to the Raposa. From this point on, Boss and Wilfre use this as their main base for operations.
Eventually, Circi hears of Wilfre's death and teleports to the Factory to attack Boss, when she learns of the second part of Boss' plan. She begins to carry it out, and Boss is left to plan for his fight. Although not directly stated, it is assumed that the Hero makes their way through the factory, as told above, and defeats Boss, shutting down the Factory for good.
