I have a personal vendetta against your father, but unlike everyone else, I plan to do something about it.

–Salem Rose

Salem Rose is a character that doesn't appear in any games, but rather in short stories written by GuyThatExists. He is an adult version of Miles who grew angry when his step-father Meeny was killed by a disease indirectly caused by Wilfre. He uses a Time Machine created by Kamalah and a Ruby Earring stolen from Wilfre in the future. He is eventually corrupted by the power of the Shadow Stone and he gains the power of both Shadow and Color. He is eventually killed by Wilfre from 2007.

TowerIcon.png Appearance

Salem Rose is the grown-up persona of Miles, and therefore shares many characteristics. New characteristics include the Ruby Earring, a replica of Salem's Cape, and the ability to coat himself in both Shadow and Color depending on his abilities at the time.

Conception

Salem Rose was first created by Miles as a child when he finds some Color in the courtyard of his mother's mansion. He plays with it, prompting him to come up with the idea for a color-powered superhero persona. He doodles himself, showing Galileo the image before he leaves, asking to come on a journey with him. Galileo tells him to stay at home, but still tells him to follow his dreams. The next time Miles is seen using color-based abilities is when he, Eeny, and Meeny are trapped in Jivin' Rooftops's Action Drawing section. Miles takes a pen from the Action Draw Altar and creates platforms for the three of them to continue.

Mayor of Watersong

Eventually, Rose dies due to complications with her gift of song and the premature transition of power. In this time, Miles becomes the Mayor of Watersong and is a founding member of the Creator's Alliance. Due to the wedding between Rose and Meeny, Meeny dies from the same complication as his wife, but in his last moments, Meeny calls Miles into his room, telling Miles to "go be the Salem Rose the world needs." Meeny dies and Miles falls into a depressive episode, re-adopting YoYaYa and hiding in his mansion for 3 months. In this time, Miles creates an intricate plan to kidnap Wilfre from Rapoville and send him to Ex-Isle so he can be punished.

Going to 2008

One day, Miles gets a call from Kamalah, the mayor of Galactic Jungle and a close friend of his. She tells him that she finally completed a working Time Machine and that she wants Miles to help her test it. Miles agrees, believing that he can see his step-father again, and he leaves for Kamalah's Lab. When he arrives, Kamalah warns him about stealing objects and interfering with the timeline, and Miles agrees to not mess with anything. He decides to travel to 2008 and observe the Giant Scribble Monster attacking the village.

While watching the fight, Miles ignores Kamalah's advice and tries to take the Ruby Earring and Wilfre's Scepter, but finds that neither of them are where they would normally be found - on Circi's ear and on the Secret Beach respectively. He starts to return to his time machine when he overhears Mari and Percate talking after the Giant Scribble Monster was defeated. Percate tells Mari that she's leaving the village, and on her way out, Percate hears Miles moving through the woods. He tries to explain himself off as a Baki and a tree monster, but Percate starts to chase him back to his time machine. Miles enters the time machine and returns to 2042 before Percate can spot him, but the experience causes her to seek therapy from Dr. Cure and C.J..

He returns to Kamalah's Lab, but accidentally appears a few minutes before he arrived in the lab earlier. Kamalah gets mad at his past self for hanging up without any formalities, and present Miles apologizes. Kamalah is excited to see that the time machine worked, but she shoos him off before his past self arrives. Miles asks if he could theoretically use the time machine as a teleporter if he didn't change the time settings, and Kamalah says that he could. Miles then returns to his mansion, and abandons his plan to punish Wilfre in the present, now planning to ambush him before he could cause any harm, preventing his reign of terror from ever starting.

Working with Milfre

Eventually, Steven calls him, asking for help with the Stellar Showdown Housing Project. Miles agrees to help, using it as an opportunity to show off his new time machine, telling the ghosts that its simply a teleportation machine. YoYaYa also sneaks into the time machine, taking him to The Wasteland as well. Salem Rose ends up helping Milfre on the project. When she reveals that she recognizes the time machine from earlier in her life, she reveals that she fought Wilfre and won. The two of them decide to help each other find Wilfre, and Miles agrees to take her to Deadwood so the two of them can pursue their mutual interest. Miles lies to Steven, telling him that he plans to take Milfre back to Watersong so that Steven would allow her to leave.

When Miles, Milfre, and YoYaYa arrive at Deadwood, Miles explains that they are there to defeat Wilfre, and Miles asks Deadwood for shelter. Deadwood lets them in, and Miles begins to explain his plan to the tree. Miles says that he planned to obtain the Ruby Earring and control of Color. Deadwood tells him about a way to collect color without draining any color from his landscape - a secret realm contained inside a Wishing Well. Deadwood tells him that he has to jump in the well and commit suicide to get into the realm. Miles decides to go to Rapoville to find said well, and he leaves Deadwood in the time machine, leaving for 2010 so as to not be detected.

Discovering the Void

Miles dives into the well and finds himself in the Developer's Grove, eavesdropping on Joe and the Droogle Leader talking about villages. Miles finds a sword in the Grove, and realizes that he must stab himself to enter the other realm. When he does, he is teleported to The Void and is greeted by Rocko, Jinxy, Flash, and Hose. They explain where he is and help him to his feet when Willham appears and begins to take him to the Color Vat.

With Willham, Rocko, and Flash coming with him, Miles begins to walk towards The Next Chapter Village. Flash asks him how he was able to find the void, so Miles tells her about Deadwood and his ability to time travel. This ability angers Willham, so he points out the Color Vat and tells Miles to leave with a Shadow Stone, explicitly stating to destroy the stone when he returns home. Willham then leaves and Flash points out the location of the Drawn to Life Village where the stones could be found.

When Miles arrives at the Drawn to Life Village, he finds Tomohawk relaxing with a Shadow Stone. He asks the Droogle for it, and Tomohawk obliges. When Miles catches the Shadow Stone, it quickly corrupts him, causing his darkest side to come to light. Using his newfound powers, he drops the name Miles, adopting the name Salem Rose, and kills Tomohawk. He creates a portal back to Rapoville, and he uses the time machine to return to Deadwood.

Assigning Missions

When he returns to Deadwood, he finds Milfre, Kamalah, Robigo, and Athys waiting for him, so he gives them missions to help him fight and defeat Wilfre. He tells Athys to gather intel about all of Wilfre's movements since 1982. He tells Robigo to find places in time where Wilfre is afraid, vulnerable, and alone. Robigo doubts his authority, causing Salem Rose to attack her, purposefully missing her. After witnessing his power, Robigo leaves to do recon through time. Looking at Kamalah and Milfre, he assumes they already know their missions, and Milfre asks what Salem Rose plans to do. As Kamalah leaves, Salem Rose creates a portal behind him, disappearing to present day Rapoville.

In Rapoville, Salem Rose goes to Village Hall to apologize to Mari for his actions at the last Creator's Alliance meeting. Wilfre, sensing the presence of the Shadow, enters Village Hall and tells Mari to leave. Salem Rose threatens Wilfre, asking for the Ruby Earring. Wilfre refuses to hand it over, causing Salem Rose to thread the building with Shadow, loosening the supports. When Wilfre covers himself in an aura of Color, Salem Rose presumably destroys Village Hall and kills Wilfre, taking the Ruby Earring for himself.

Attacking the Void

After taking the Ruby Earring, Salem Rose uses the time machine to enter the Dev Grove once again. Hearing the commotion of the time machine appearing, the Droogle Leader investigates the event, causing Salem Rose to hold him hostage. Salem Rose forces the Droogle to take him to his sword, so the Droogle Leader complies. Salem Rose stabs himself, sending himself into the void once more. When he arrives, he finds most of the inhabitants standing in a crowd thanks to Aly's appearance moments earlier. He begins to monologue to the residents, demanding that they take him to the Color Vat once more.

Suddenly, he is attacked by many residents of the void, including Jinxy, Fox, Crawler, Rocket Vulture, Willham, and Shadow Mari. During their attack, Salem Rose portals away to the Color Vat, where he dives in, submerging himself in the Color. While in the vat, he is surrounded by the screeners and the Four Guardians. They demand that he comes out, so he bursts from the vat, releasing a wave of color that knocks the Four Guardians down, killing them. When Salem Rose creates a portal to escape, Willham notices that he didn't destroy the Shadow Stone. Willham tries to erase Salem Rose from existence, but his attack is slightly too late, allowing Salem Rose to escape the void and dodge the attack.

Vs. Milfre

Now having the powers of both Shadow and Color at his disposal, Salem Rose returns to Deadwood, telling Robigo to leave, as a fight is about to happen. When the Raposa leaves, he absorbs the color from YoYaYa, killing his pet and leaving its colorless body for Milfre to find moments later. When Milfre appears in Deadwood, Salem Rose begins to ask her about her mission in 2013, feigning ignorance as to the location of the Ruby Earring. When Milfre reveals that she had betrayed him, Salem Rose laughs, revealing the earring to Milfre and coating himself in both of his new powers. Milfre dons the Artifacts of Power, and the two begin to fight.

Salem Rose is able to dodge all of Milfre's attack with ease, but when he notices that she has the ability to summon Creations, he gets suspicious of her. He blocks a Trident with his Shadow, unintentionally redirecting it at the Eternal Furnace, causing the Artifact to explode with a shower of Color, Shadow, and fire. Intrigued, Salem Rose begins to fight back, grabbing onto the Branches from the Tree of Ages sticking out of Milfre's hair. He channels Color into one of the branches and shadow into the other, causing them both to explode. Milfre then throws Salem Rose across the arena using her Scribble abilities, summons the Legendary Sword, Ice Sword, and Slasher to her side, and throws the Pen Sword at him. Salem Rose catches the pen and explodes it, sending a blast of ruby energy throughout the ancient tree, causing Deadwood to scream in anguish. The energy channels back into the Ruby Earring, causing Salem Rose's abilities to become more potent.

Salem Rose then steals the Legendary Sword and Slasher from her, now using them to attack her. Coating the Legendary Sword with Color, Salem Rose attacks the Pencil Shield, causing it to explode as well. Milfre fell to the ground, allowing Salem Rose to create two balls of Color and Shadow energy, firing them at her in a point blank range. The Crystal Mask absorbs most of the energy, but it explodes in her face, causing Milfre to loose some of the color in her arms. Salem Rose is thrown to the other end of the tree in the explosion, destroying his Shadow Stone and stripping him of his Shadow abilities. He quickly gets up and walks over to Milfre, stealing more of her color and exposing more of her mannequin, and he portals away to his mansion.
